Week in Review (December 22nd, 2024)

- I've decided, after a nine-month break, I'm going to give this Week in Review another shot. I also published my unfinished draft from March 17th, and added my posts from 2023. I'm also working on adding some posts from 2021, but it'll be a while till I get them uploaded.
- The teaser for James Gunn's Superman has released and it looks fantastic! I'm so excited.
- I applied for quite a few jobs this week. I know this time of year hiring is slow, but I'm hopeful I'll get back working by the end of January. If not, I'll need to find anything to start bringing in the dough.

📺 Watched
- Stranger Things (Season Four) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I'm a little late to the party, but the wife and I began season four of Stranger Things. It's enjoyable, but it's clear the show is ready to end. I'm glad the next season is the last.
- Superman and Lois ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I finished the last two episodes of Superman and Lois and WOW was it a tearjerker. This show didn't get the press it deserved, I think mostly because it aired on the CW. It was a great interpretation of Superman that nailed the hopefulness the character should embody, not whatever Zack Snyder did with it.
- Creature Commandos (Episode 4) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ - James Gunn has done it again and this was yet another fantastic episode of Creature Commandos. The show is a perfect blend of humor, action, and heart. I cannot believe he was able to make me feel what I felt watching this particular episode. I just never imagined having so much empathy for that character.
- True Detective (Season 1 Episodes 1-5) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I've seen the first season of True Detective and loved it. I thought my wife would enjoy it so we started it and watched half of it so far.

📖 Read
- The Sunny Nihilist by Wendy Syfret ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- I haven't quite reached the end, but this book came into my life at the right time. I've been really struggling with the pressure to have meaning in my life, and this book helped show me ways to cope with this struggle.
- Defenders of Earth Issues 1-4 (2024) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- I have a growing interest in pulp heroes and this new book by Mad Cave Studios has been a joy to read thus far. I'm really in love with their subscription service. For $25 you get each comic when it releases digitally and then a physical trade paperback once it's run is complete.
